Media Dept: Game Video Plans for 2017

After two seasons, Weekly Wiffle Roundup is being retired. Replacing it will be two complete game videos each week. The first of these series will be familiar, with a play-by-play call on-site during the recording. WSEM has done these before for playoff games, though not since 2014, as well as occasionally for regular season action - and of course, it's par for the course across the world of sports. So, you know what to expect from this: every second of the game, no commercials, two guys on the mic calling the game, maybe with a guest on now and then. An easy edit to add the graphics, and this should be up the day after the game.

The second video will be a bit different. Yes, it will be footage of every second from one game, but that is the only commonality. The commentary over the game will be completely different. Instead of calling the game live the commentators will watch back the tape a couple days later; and instead of having any play-by-play, the "call" will be entirely devoted to color commentary over the action. The easiest way to classify it? A freestyle discussion over a game video. Cues will be taken from the gameplay, but the conversation can go anywhere: anecdotes about players in the game, stories about similar situations, and so on down the rabbit hole. Everything is on the table, and that is the idea: to expand the WSEM narrative.
