At worst it's bad form for power rankings to mirror the standings. At best it's boring. We'll try not to be boring, but the Wicked Aces 3-0-1 start demands the top spot. Kujawa and Villarreal combined for 0.92 ERA and 1.19 WHIP over the first four games. To bring a storyline to the table: the Aces are 9-0-1 if you go back to July 21, 2018. The last team to beat them was the Stinky Nuts, who swept. The Aces' sweep of the Nuts this past weekend makes for a nice bookend to that chapter. Big test coming up for the Aces when they'll be without Kujawa for their next six games.

King Friday at #2. Told you we'd try not to be boring! Yes, they were outscored 8-10 in their split series with El Diablos, and maybe sound logic says they should be #4. The reason we give the edge to Friday over the other two .500 teams, though, is that they played with a three-man lineup and without the ace of their rotation. El Diablos and Stinky Nuts both had their top two arms in play. Adding Braden to Friday's rotation and lineup seems like the biggest boost for any of the .500 teams, and we're betting futures here.

Slide El Diablos into the third spot, barely behind Friday. Basically touching. Picture the two teams spooning: El Diablos as the big spoon. If we were power ranking players, Chandler would be #1 with a bullet: pitched a shutout, hit like a maniac (.667 AVG, 2.325 OPS). El Diablos offense as a whole is strong, as expected. The concern is with the second arm in the rotation after Brown had a rough outing. Can't depend on Fisher to fill that roll full-time. Of course, given better conditions Brown could turn things around for an impact similar to what Braden brings for Friday. Like we said: big spoon.

The general consensus on Stinky Nuts is that at full strength this team is a force. We tend to agree, but the team was at full-strength, at least with their pitching, when they dropped both games to the Aces. They blew a 1-0 lead in the last inning of that first game, then gave up early runs in the following game and their bats couldn't climb back into it. That's the main point: it's hard to rank the Nuts higher up this board when they have a .129 team batting average.

Back in line with the standings and boring at the bottom: Redux in spot number five. The Dux highlight is the 8 scoreless innings pitched by Strojny. Irwin, in his rookie debut, also pitched two perfect innings. Zeller led the offense with 3 hits, but their two runs scored came on two solo shots. As the old [read: "rather recent"] adage goes, "nothing loses a game faster than solo home runs." So, the preseason predictions seem on point: promising pitching prospects, but bum bats.

At the bottom we have the Islanders. Unable to plate a single run. They did scatter three hits among three players; still, it's hard to draw a silver lining from that. Skinner, pitching in the ace role, surrendered 2 R on 2 H and 4 BB. Not necessarily bad… except when the lineup's not scoring any runs. Their second arm is cause for more concern. Bruen got shelled for 10 R, and Adams threw one pitch, which ended up over the fence for the walk-off mercy. If we're offering advice, 2 steps: 1) find a way to score runs, then 2) sort out the situation with second pitcher.

Twatter Rankings: Week 10

by David Castle
1. Whiteford Wicked Aces
Bye week for the Aces. They prepare for the Islanders and the Wolfpack week 12 at Poolside.
2. Flying Squirrels  1
An amazing 4-0 sweep on the day (Ed. note: The first of the season!) to gain a ton of ground in the Ringler. Their last series against the Cox will be huge.
3. Red Cox  1
Bye week for the Cox. They prepare for the Balls and See Yas in Southfield week 12
4. Wolfpack  1
A much needed sweep vs the See Yas to gain ground in the playoff race. Must see wiffle week 12 against the Aces and Islanders.
5. Islanders  1
They split 4 games and manage to stay alive in the playoff race. More and more, the Fisher trade doesn't look too bad.
6. El Diablos  2
It sounds like they might not be playoff eligible. They may have played their final games of the year last week.
7. Holy Balls
Panic mode for the Balls at this point, the needed a split last week and only went 1-3. They must split week 12 to stay alive.
8. Alex See Yas
They are pretty much out of it for this year, but Alexia does get to keep Farkas for $50 next year which seems unfair.

Twatter Rankings: Week 9

by David Castle
1. Whiteford Wicked Aces
43 points and a +66 run diff is really impressive. They might have both the MVP and Clown Shu on their squad... unfair.
2. Red Cox
They go 3-1 to match the Ringler leading Aces. They trail by just 1 point going into the home stretch...who will mess up first?
3. Flying Squirrels  2
They played really well at Poolside. They play the Balls week 10 in a can't miss match-up. Skin vs. Fish + Cass vs. D'Agnese.
4. El Diablos  1
They salvaged a game in Southfield. Not having a #2 arm is really hurting them at this point. Ship is still afloat... kind of.
5. Wolfpack  1
They remain in the playoff hunt by going 2-2 week 9. They should win 1 this week to remain in the thick of things.
6. Islanders  2
hey had a much needed bye week. They prepare to face the Balls and Blos... they'll have their hands full. ARRRRR!!!
7. Holy Balls
They remain at 7, they're going all in by getting Fisher. He's played on 3 teams this year, which might be telling.
8. Alex See Yas
Technically, they aren't out of it, but they did just unload Fisher, so I think they might be mailing it in, but who knows.

Twatter Rankings: Week 7

by David Castle
1. Whiteford Wicked Aces  2
They went 3-1 to take a 1 point lead in the Ringler. Bortmas is having an MVP year. They face the Balls week 8... should be good.
2. Red Cox
They managed a split against the Aces without Jardine which is all they could have hoped for. Can't miss wiffle week 8 vs el Diablos. #chickenfight
3. Flying Squirrels  1
When everyone is there, this team will be hard to beat, they almost swept the Blos without Skinflute. Easy week 8 games.
4. Holy Balls  1
They started out bad against the Pack but did salvage a tie. It doesn't get any easier next week facing the Aces.
5. El Diablos  4
They had a tough time against the Squirrels. They too have tough games next week facing the Cox and See Yas respectively.
6. Wolfpack
They came 1 run away from sweeping the Balls, they seem to get better each week. Rough games next week vs See Yas and Squirrels
7. Alex See Yas
When Fisher isn't there, their number 2 arm is a question mark. Next week they will need him to keep their playoff hopes alive
8. Islanders
They played the Balls tough and came 5 feet away from a split. Next week doesn't get any easier facing the Cox and Squirrels.
