El Diablos are still in unfamiliar territory at 1-3. The big surprise is the lack of offensive production: just 5 RS in 4 games. Tomlinson (.556 SLG%) and Phillips (.524 SLG%) are #4 and #5, respectively, in the league, but their combined 6 extra base hits are the only so far for the fighting chickens. If ever there were a field to get an offense jump-started, it is King's Castle with its 65' left field fence. While the #2 pitcher question remains for the long haul, we should see a solid answer for it this week with Lollio dropping in for his 1 series of the season. He threw great in 2014 (1.43 WHIP, 13.9 K/6), and returning to the familiar King's Castle should play to his advantage - not often you can say that for a pitcher! Lollio certainly provides his team the on-paper matchup advantage in game 1 against the untested rookie arm of Rogers.

What a week for the See Yas! Move into first place in Ringler, then Farkas goes on a parade of media interviews including Fox 2, Channel 7, 105.1 on Thursday, and reportedly 97.1 up next. He'll have to wait until game 2 this week to take the mound for his team, as would Doby, which puts the See Yas in a bit of hole having to go to their shallow bullpen once again. The good news, their bats perked up last week, including against Fisher, which should give them some optimism now facing a talented El Diablos' one-two. Despite the opposing arms, the See Yas must look to give their extra-base power a jolt playing in the small confines of the Castle, as they've supplied only 3 as a team so far. This series will give the Garcia Divsion standings an early push in one direction or another.

The Squirrels return after an off-week, still with the ups and downs of Opening Day in their heads. Ups: Skinner's dominating perfecto to start the season, and Brown coming through with a 3 hit day in his rookie debut. Downs: Brandon D'Agnese being a little wild in his first start (8 BB), and this highly touted offense mustering only 2 runs. Okay, so they were missing a big piece in Mike D'Agnese's bat. If he's in this weekend, he could provide a boost the Squeaks' lineup needs. A sweep puts them in reach of the Ringler lead with the Aces and, current leaders, Cox playing later in the day. This series will be a good test: projected Balls starters Castle and Paquin have combined to post a 0.89 WHIP on the season.

That pitching and the high winds dealt the Balls 2 close, tough losses in Week 2. In the first game, Paquin made the call to keep Castle eligible for game one against the Squirrels when the game went into the 9th. It likely cost them a point, but it does put them in position to make it up this week. The Holy Balls last trip to the Castle ended their 2014 season in heartbreaking fashion: seeing 2 back-to-back no-doubt HR swatted down by the big wall for easy put outs. Now, both of these teams sit at .500, and the wild card in this series may be the quirks of the Castle. Weak pop flies can become big HR, and hard hit shots often bounce to become the easiest outs of fielder's life.

Games 3 and 4 of the year, and the Aces will be trotting our their third and fourth different pitchers of the season. What else would you expect from a team branded with the name "Aces"? It's hard to get a real gauge on the Aces after two deadlocked games Week 1 vs. the Squirrels. Saturday is also the first time we'll see the captain, Evan Bischoff, take command of the field with his full roster. He took Giguere and Ford to the Wind-Up championship in March. That should say promising things about what he can make happen with a full lineup card. The Aces have 1 steep downside after 2 games: hitting the ball. Bortmas is the only Ace to have recorded a hit (he has 2). Meanwhile the rest of the team has combined for 7 walks. It doesn't get any easier on their bats this week against the WSEM leading Cox, either.

The Red Cox have opened up the season hot. After losing their first game in 8 innings, they've won three in a row. Their 2 wins over Holy Balls Week 2 both came in walk-off fashion. This squad does things in exciting ways, and their offense is showing well for it. They lead the league in AVG and SLG%, and are tied for second in RS with 14. Werner and Villareal have 5 hits each, which has them tied for second individually. Given their ranking in hitting, it could be easy to forget that bats are not the Cox strength. It looks like the Cox will be without Jardine (0.78 WHIP) for this series. But that's no problem, seeing as their other 2 starting pitchers also bring in WHIPs well below 1.00 (Haffey: 0.68, Kujawa: 0.71). The Cox played it smart last week, pitching both in game 2 to keep them both eligible. Game 6 could be the the game to keep a curious eye on, as two of WSEM's promising rookie arms take the mound.
