It's been a long time since these teams saw another. They opened the season against each other, and split the series 1-1. The See Yas took game 1 with a walk-off win in BOT 8, then carried a 2-1 lead into BOT 6 of game 2 before the Cox put up more 10 runs to end the day with a statement. And they've not stopped. They sit one point behind Aces for the Ringler Pennant, with equal games left to play. The first or third overall seed seems guaranteed. There are no guarantees in See Yas-town, not even that they're dead in the water. Although, 3 GB of the Wild Card with an Elimination Number of 4 does have them circling the drain, and likely playing spoiler. Farkas' arm gives any team that shot, as he is once again chasing the single season strikeout record. He needs just 45 K more to reach his record of 251 set last season, and is likely working with at least 54 outs (and a 16.6 K/6) with which to do it.

Another long-coming rematch: the Balls and Cox faced off into the wind week 2 in Farmington. As a headwind makes a team do, the Cox utilized smallball: keeping the ball on the ground to squeak out two 1-run victories. 1-0 in 9 innings, and 2-1, a another come from behind victory in the second game. Even though South Field is technically a "home field" for the Cox, the confines will be much more friendly than Gill was week 2 for the Balls bats. The treeline behind left and center means there will not be a strong headwind to overcome, meaning this series should play out much differently. Programming Note: If the Cox get a point from the earlier series, then these games will present the first opportunity for a 2015 team to lockup a playoff berth.

Balls and Yas part one was ugly absurd not wiffleball high-powered windy and ridiculous. Our new "Paddington Bear" award was christened shortly after. There have been less ding dongs hit in entire NWLA HR Derbies than that 2-game series: 24 long dongs between the two teams. Pearson had himself a record setting 6 dong game on his way to 8 on the series; accounting for over 72% of his HR on the season. Castle also posted an 8 HR day, exactly two-thirds of the 12 dongs he's taken deep this year. The See Yas have vowed to keep their ace available; that and less forecasted wind should help make this more of a wiffleball series. Which would be nice to watch, since both teams can use these games to help position themselves for a playoff spot: Balls enter play Saturday 2 games up on the Yas. As the penultimate series for both teams, winning this series could be a key moment for either.
