The Aces and Wolves first met week 7 in an affair heavily lopsided toward the neon yellow. The Wolves ace, Strojny, was ineligible to pitch, meanwhile the Aces responded with their best 1-2 punch, Hatt and Bischoff. The first game wasn't too one-sided, an 8-2 result. The 15-0, 4 HR tilt in game 2 is what made it ugly. That same alignment has come back around for the pitching matchups. The Aces should have the advantage from the mound in both games. Could we see these games decided by a rare offensive showdown? Bortmas and Greg Brannan are numbers 1 and 2 in AVG and SLG, and are responsible for 34% and 32% of their team's RBIs, respectively. Led by those two bats, the Aces and 'Pack are the only two lineups hitting over .200 in WSEM. Break out the bats, boys. Let's get your balls wet.

It's a safe bet that this series will look nothing like it did when the Wolves and Isles met on Opening Day. The Wolves surrendered 19 R Opening Day; now, you have to look back at their last 9 games to see that many runs allowed by the 'Pack. Strojny's been the obvious spearhead of that night-and-day turnaround. In his last 10 GP, he has a 0.65 ERA and has flattened an 8.43 WHIP suffered week 1 down to an even 1.00 on the season. The Islanders aren't without their own impressive turnabout. They went 3-7-1 in their first 11 games of 2015. In their last 11 games they are 6-5. Doby, acquired May 26, has earned 5 of those last 6 wins... And with the Isles in the playoff hunt it's always fun to point out how Doby also handed his new team one of their losses earlier this season. One game now separates the Wolfpack and Islanders in the hunt for the final Wild Card spot. For the Islanders it's simple: they need to win the series to gain any ground. The 'Pack aren't shy about eyeing the Garcia Pennant and likely the #2 seed, though. You have to think revenge for week 1 is top of their mind as a sweet way to push toward that end.

Hey, Islanders. Don't worry about being 5 GB of the Aces in the Ringler Division. That your Elim. # for the pennant is just 2.0 isn't a big deal. Forget about being swept by the Aces in your two-game series back in May. Forget about the 17 runs the Aces scored against you, as well. However, do concern yourself with the fact that you were no hit in both games by the Aces. I know you lead the league in BB (160), but you're really gonna need to hit the ball here. Hey Aces, you should probably forget most of that junk, too (but feel free to stay proud of the no hitter stuff). I'll caution you that this Isles team is a very different beast than they were in May. For one, they've only been shut out once in their last ten games, compared to 5 games in a row at the time of your first series. What you should concentrate on is bolstering your record at Poolside, considering you're trying to host the 1st Round 1 vs. 4/5 series. You're currently 4-3-1 on the season at your ball field, but only 2-3-1 against likely opponents for that series. Both the Wolfpack and Islanders fit into that "likely" category, so this seems like the time you might want to add the "friendly" back in your confines. Oh, and hey Zac! How's it feel being on the other side now?
